Dr. Amit Desai

Dr. Amit Desai DDS, one of the founding board of directors of the United States-India Relationship Council (USIRC) is extremely proud and honored to serve as the chairman, to work towards establishing a formidable and enduring US-India relationship. He has previously worked with various US law makers especially Rep. Ed Royce, who was Chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee.
Dr. Desai was born in Ahmedabad and grew up in Nadiad, Gujarat, India. He attended the Government Dental College and Hospital in Ahmedabad, during which time he was active in fighting social and political injustice for the neglected and the disadvantaged. After graduating, he availed his skills as a Dental Surgeon in “Shree Santram Jan Sewa Trust”, a charitable organization serving the underprivileged.
He married Mayuri Patel in 1989 and settled in Southern California where he currently resides with his wife and their two daughters. He is a graduate of USC, School of Dentistry, class of 1994, and has been practicing dentistry ever since. Even with his busy work schedule he has always found time to serve his community and has served on the board of various social, religious and political organizations.
Dr. Desai is very passionate about his roots- his “Sanatan” Hindu faith and sincerely believes in the motto “Service to Humanity is Service to God”. His love for his adopted country, the US is par with his love for his mother land. He is always heard saying “India is my Mother and the US is my Aunt”.
Dr. Desai appreciates the significance of a strong and resilient US-India Relationship.
